In areas where land is scarce or expensive, Columbarium offer a space-efficient alternative to traditional burial. They require significantly less space than conventional graves, making them a practical solution in urban environments. Due to growing environmental concerns, many individuals are choosing cremation and columbarium storage over traditional burials. This shift is driven by considerations such as land preservation and the long-term environmental impact of cemeteries. Columbarium also provide a centralized and accessible location for families to visit and honour their loved ones. These spaces are thoughtfully designed to be peaceful and serene, offering a place for reflection, remembrance, and connection. Personal Choice : Cremation is increasingly viewed as a personal and flexible choice for individuals. Columbarium often provide opportunities for family members to personalize the memorial space. This may include adding memorial plaques, personal inscriptions, photographs, or other meaningful tributes alongside the niche, creating a dedicated space to honour and remember the deceased. The Mount Erskine Columbarium is designed to serve residents from the Tanjung Bungah to Teluk Bahang areas. This six-storey building features a two-storey Columbarium and three air-conditioned funeral parlour units on the ground floor, with the remaining levels designated for parking. The Columbarium provides a total of 27,600 niches, with approximately 13,800 niches on each floor. In terms of access and design, visitation is typically limited to family members and loved ones, who may come to pay their respects, reflect, or place personal mementos at the site.
